We offer year-round Kayak and Canoe equipment rentals for Congaree National Park, Dreher Island State Park, the Congaree River Blue Trail, and other beautiful parks and places in South Carolina.

Most rental customers pick up their kayak or canoe rental from our shop at 905 Gervais Street in Columbia, SC.

All rentals include lifejackets, paddles, foam blocks for your vehicle, and tie-down equipment. We will assist you in loading and ensure you are confident in securing your gear.

RESERVATIONS

Most equipment is available on demand; however, we recommend placing a reservation to hold the equipment for you. Reservations are made by paying for the rental and can be done by telephone at 803-771-0353 with a debit or credit card.

*Please note that once made, reservations cannot be refunded but canceled reservations with notice before the rental date will receive a Rental Credit for the full amount. Rental credit may be used for any future rental.

EQUIPMENT PICKUP

Rental equipment may be picked up at River Runner from 10 AM to 5 PM Monday through Saturday. Please plan for approximately 30 minutes to complete your rental pickup.

EQUIPMENT RETURN

Rental equipment may be returned anytime from 10 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Saturday.

Returns after 5 PM will incur a $25 additional fee.
Sunday returns may be made by special arrangement for a $50 additional fee.
Unattended returns during any time when the shop is closed are not allowable and will incur an additional $100 fee.
Please do not leave your rental equipment until we have properly checked it back in – and please don’t forget to check your vehicle for paddles, PFDs, and cleanup kits!

Due to concern for your safety, and possible damage to rental equipment, River Runner does not rent equipment for the following areas: Saluda River Section II (from I-20 to the Mill Race area) and Saluda River III (Riverbanks Zoo to Gervais Street Bridge on the Congaree River). You are always responsible for making your own wise decisions about the safety of other paddling areas. Changing water levels and weather conditions are very important considerations. We are always happy to provide our best advice, but you are responsible for your personal safety and the safety of the rental equipment. PFD’s must always be worn when you are on water – no exceptions!
